Making friends in New Zealand

You know everyone is really friendly here... I found this guy just walking through the park. He really wanted to take a picture with my friend and I... OK  Snapped some shots, and hopped right back on the trampoline. (Yeah the parks here are frickin cool too- they have trampolines, rat wheels,  fox tails, and inventions we would never allow in the US (kids might hurt themselves))

Ahh a typical wednesday. No wonder the week days feel like a weekend. It's like midnight! And still after this I leaned about the constellations, played more on the rat wheel, and explored an abandoned bunker!

This is the entrance to the bunker. You know I've only even been in there at night.

The Weather of a Day

I took these photos all in the same day! I traveled just a short while up to Taupo, the place I went Skydiving.
You know, I've never seen so many sheep in my life. You really can't tell from the picture, but I guarantee you that there are at least 500 sheep in it!

The scenery is breathtaking! You are looking at the volcanos in Tongariro National Park.

Below is the first time I've seen snow in New Zealand. Never thought I'd see the day! I have to say I felt a little at home on that drive.

Orakei Korako: Cave and Thermal Park

Growing up only a few hours drive from Yellowstone National Park, it can be all to easy to overlook how spectacular these geothermal features really are. Each of them are unique, and though I have seen the ones back home many times, visiting this Geothermal Park was like discovering it all over again.

I love the boiling mud. I suppose if you cool it down a bit, it'd be great for a mud bath!

Nature has a way of bringing us to silence. What has been created is so spectacular and beyond the human being, it feels as though no words could possibly describe it's beauty. She is meant to be experienced, to be felt- from the heart and seen with our own eyes.

I love this face! When you watch it, it looks like it's eyes are popping and it's burping up mud.

This is the ferry that takes us to the thermal area, nice little ride on the lake  : )

This is yet another boat! We decided to take a lake tour of Taupo and see the Maori carvings on the rock... Little did we know this gentle boat cruise was going to be quite an adventure!

A short while after we left, the weather picked up. The boat rocked from nearly edge to edge There and back again. Glasses and plates were flying everywhere and water filled the floor. The garbage can however seemed to stay in place, because a young girl on the boat was making good use of it!
Great trip none the less, the sun came out for awhile and we got.. Free Postcards... to make up for the "bumpy" ride.

Freefall Skydive!! 15,000 feet back to earth

This is my jumping partner, Mike! He says that I'll be A-OK. Though I look a little worried, I was certainly the most enthusiastic of the bunch.

I am quite surprised that I didn't really have any fear of jumping... Well until about now. The oxygen mask started freaking me out a little.

To get to this point, I worked up a 007, mision impossible where I had to jump out of a burning plane so that I could live on an island like Lost... Well do whatever you have to to get the courage to fall like that. I had fun!

This is the point where it is utter bliss. Falling through the sky... There is nothing else like it! You can't simply compare this experience with anything else.

If you have the guts. DO IT!
